There is some new evidence to suggest that acupuncture for diagnosis and treatment of arthritis is now becoming more widespread based on some new studies that showed that acupuncture could help relieve arthritis symptoms and offer pain relief to those suffering from arthritis. In fact just recently a study by a German team of doctors and researchers provided results that showed how a combination of conventional medicine and acupuncture could significantly improve the quality of life for personnel suffering from or diagnosed with osteoarthritis. This is good news indeed with as many as 40% of arthritis sufferers now turning towards pain relief from arthritis symptoms by using an alternative practice or medicine. With as many as 46 million people diagnosed with some form of arthritis (that's 1 in 5 Americans) and another 24 million diagnosed with some form of chronic joint pain that could be one of the 100 various joint diseases that make up arthritis any chance of pain relief even if it's done through an alternative method such as acupuncture is a welcome sign. The German study even went so far as to state that acupuncture should be considered as a vaiable treatment option for patients with knee or hip-associated chronic pain as a result of an arthritic condition. However, even with these rather impressive and promising findings more research will still need to be conducted in order to truly prove the validity of acupuncture for diagnosis and treatment of arthritis as a viable alternative treatment that can be trusted to relieve arthritis pain in the joints such as the knee and hip regions. One reason why so many people that suffer from arthritis pain consider acupuncture as a form of preferred treatment is due to the fact that acupuncture works without the use of drugs. For many consumers drug free pain relief is important to them and acupuncture covers this desire to not have to rely on arthritis pain relief medications. So as you can see acupuncture does seem to offer some hope as an alternative method to ease arthritis pain without having to rely on steriods or prescribed pain pills. With only a few alternative arthritis relief methods avaialble acupuncture seems to be the best treatment with document results.
